What if you could use your Health Savings Account (HAS) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for more than just dcotor’s visits and medicine? How about using it to pay for fitness classes, personal training, gym memberships, swimming lessons, sports league fees, organized running events, dance or karate classes? A bill I have been following for several years is called the PHIT (Personal Health Investment Today) Bill and it would do just. It has been introduced to Congress many times but only just recently passed. Now the bill will historically proceed to the Senate who can make it a law. PHIT can help lower the cost barrier for structured phyiscal activity for everyone, lowering the risks associated with sedentary lifestyles, obesity, and preventable chronic diseases.
We will keep you posted on the progress of this bill, but in the meantime, you can indicate your support or learn more at the following link: PHIT Bill Secures 100th Sponsor (acefitness.org)
