Strong core muscles are important for athletes as well as the average person. A strong core can help the limit back pain, improve their posture, and improve athletic performance.

As noted by Harvard Medical School, “Think of your core muscles as the sturdy central link in a chain connecting your upper and lower body. Whether you’re hitting a tennis ball or mopping the floor, the necessary motions either originate in your core, or move through it.”

A good core workout incorporates all the muscles of the core such as the obliques, abdominals, lower back, and glutes. This 10 Minute Core workout can be done easily anywhere you have floor space. Tack it on to your gym workout, or do it as a stand-alone routine at home.

10 Minute Core:

  • Cross Body Mountain Climbers: x20
  • Russian Twists: x20
  • Glute Bridge: x15
  • Supermans: x12
  • Plank Hold: x30 Seconds (on forearms or hands, elevate if needed)
  • Sit Ups: x12 (if you can’t do a full sit-up, do just the top portion of the motion)

Repeat the series of exercises 1-3 times
